Geoffrey Cheason Associates

Geoffrey Cheason Associates is a small architectural based practice in Penarth in the Vale of Glamorgan specialising in the conservation and repair of existing, historic and listed buildings.

The practice acts as consultants for projects in a variety of fields with particular emphasis on the conservation, renewal and creative re-use of buildings, their environment and landscaping; together with the design of sensitive infill in conservation area. The practice also carries out surveys and in depth evaluations of projects or strategies for renewal and development.

Projects are normally undertaken from initial survey and feasibility study, through funding stages, detailed business planning if appropriate, to tender and construction including fitting out and maintenance scheduling.

The Practice is well versed in obtaining Planning and/or Listed Building Consent, negotiating Building Regulations approval and meeting Health and Safety, and Fire Officer requirements as they affect historic buildings, and working closely with Cadw: Welsh Historic Monuments and RCAHM (Wales).

We prefer to work closely with clients to develop projects which have both vision and roots in reality; we place great emphasis on consultation, evaluation and the sharing of ideas with those who will be responsible for taking projects forward.

The Practice also offers assistance in obtaining funding having been successful in obtaining substantial Historic Buildings Council (Cadw) grants, SDS funds, Landfill Tax and Heritage Lottery grants for various Clients, in addition to Churches Preservation Trust, Princes Trust Bro and Welsh Churches Act funding, We can also advise on registration as a limited company and as a charity where appropriate.

Geoffrey Cheason is a registered architect and a member of the Institute of Historic Building Conservation and acts as a Planning Supervisors under the CDM (Health and Safety) Regulations Act.
